Moving to South Carolina was quite the experience for me. I’ve moved many times in my life among five different states, back and forth to some. I wasn’t always transplanted, but I have continued moving as an adult more than anything. Most recently, I had lived in Texas for nine years, but I moved to South Carolina four years ago. It was a long drive, one you at least want to split into two legs. Otherwise, I would have had to drive almost 24 hours straight.
Where are you moving from? Your drive time or flight time if you have movers will depend on where you hail from. That was just the beginning of my story. I have relatives that live in South Carolina that I never got to meet until I moved here. South Carolina is the beautiful country and great cities, too. I grew up in Kentucky and Tennessee, and the landscape of South Carolina and Georgia most matched that driving during my move.
Texas is a particular type of landscape, and let’s just say much of the southern rural areas are full of mesquite trees. You have your tall pine trees and many other types of tall trees throughout South Carolina, Georgia, Kentucky and Tennessee. It’s not so bad in Louisiana and Mississippi either, but what I noticed during my drive was that South Carolina was the best one of all. I could be biased, however, as I ended up planted right on the oceanfront in Myrtle Beach.
On the move, I was going to drive the coastline the whole way there, but I ended up taking I-20 instead. Some of the great cities you’ll find in South Carolina include Greenville, where the family lives that I met, Columbia, Charleston and of course where I live, Myrtle Beach. There are other great cities and towns, though, including more along the coast like Hilton Head.
While South Carolina is a beautiful state, there are many different types of cities in which to call home. Where are you moving to in this beautiful state? No matter where you are in South Carolina, you’re never too far away from the coast. South Carolina is notorious for being a state with low property taxes, and I can vouch for that. You’ll find all kinds of great properties, and you can handle the move like you would any other stateside.
